Dr. Brian Mueller is currently Senior Instructor of Percussion at Middle Tennessee State University, where he has been on faculty since 2015. His teaching has included private lessons in classical and jazz percussion, directing the MTSU Percussion Ensemble and Steel Pan Ensemble, writing for and coaching the MTSU Front Ensemble, and teaching the Percussion Techniques course each spring. He is also on faculty with the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts. He holds a Doctor of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacob's School of Music (2016). His prior academic background includes a Master of Music degree from The University of North Texas (2009) and a Bachelor of Music degree from Wichita State University (2007). Brian has worked as a freelance drummer and percussionist for many years, and is a published composer and arranger, with pieces available through Tapspace Publications, Row-Loff Productions, C. Alan Publications, and Cimarron Music Press. He has recorded for Row-Loff Productions and Electronic Arts. He also has developed a metronome app for iPhone, “The Gnome,” which is published through the Apple App Store.
Brian has performed and presented clinics nationally and internationally, including at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention; the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference; the MTSU Jazz Festival; the Shanghai Jazz Festival; the Columbus (OH) International Festival; the North Georgia Percussion Festival; the McCormick Marimba Festival; Reinhardt University; Southeastern University; Florida State University; the University of Georgia; Tennessee Tech University; Indiana University; Wichita State University; Kansas State University; The University of Texas at El Paso, Middle Tennessee State University; the University of the South (Sewanee, TN); the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris; the Central Conservatory of Beijing; the Midi School of Music (Beijing); Wuxi Grand Theater (Wuxi, China); Hangzhou Normal University (Hangzhou, China); the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (Hangzhou, China); and the Wuhan Conservatory of Music.

I am a percussionist, composer, and teacher based in the Nashville area, where I have been on faculty with the Middle Tennessee State University School of Music since 2015. As far back as I can remember, I have always enjoyed the act of creating. This passion has manifested itself primarily through music, but over the years I have also sustained a continual interest in learning about computer science and software development. When I find the time, I also enjoy cooking (whether in the kitchen or on the smoker), and have also discovered a love for audio recording, editing, and mixing, as well as video editing.
This website was coded from scratch as a project to learn more about web development, and the videos of my pieces were primarily recorded and edited by myself.
